Washington Wines Blind Tasting Experience

Thursday November 20th | 5pm & 7pm Seatings

You’ll blind-taste a flight of Washington’s most interesting red & white blends. Taste the Old World inspiration behind our New World region

The Challenge: Can You Taste the Washington Terroir?

Washington State is world-renowned for its phenomenal blending grapes: Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Grenache, and Sangiovese. But while the grapes are grown in the desert heat of the Columbia Valley, the winemaking spirit often hails from Europe.

Tonight, we put your wine knowledge to the ultimate test. You’ll blind-taste a flight of Washington’s most ambitious red and white blends hosted by a local Sommelier and our friends at Corks & Convos.

The Clues

Forget the label. Rely only on your senses. Is that dusty tannin and blackcurrant flavor shouting Bordeaux? Is the savory, white-pepper spice an unmistakable sign of the Northern Rhône? Or does the bright acidity and cherry-licorice profile reveal a hidden Tuscan heart?

For example you may be tasting for:

  • The Bordeaux Signature (Cabernet, Merlot, etc.)

  • The Rhône Soul (Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, etc.)

  • The Tuscan Twist (Sangiovese, often with Cabernet)

  • The Spanish Spark (Tempranillo, Grenache, etc.)

  • ...and maybe a white blend inspired by White Bordeaux (Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon)!

Who Should Attend?

This is for the curious, the adventurous, and anyone who thinks they can out-smart a sommelier. Whether you’re an expert or an enthusiast, this tasting will sharpen your palate and deepen your appreciation for the incredible complexity of Washington wine.

We'll see you at the Library.
